HAND LINES
photography, exploration of the territory, Porto, 2022
hand lines seeks to portray everyday life and the territory from photography, enlargement and cropping. The thread that guides the project comes from an excerpt from the bookThe Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino:
"The city absorbs itself like a sponge from this wave that ebbs from memories and expands. A description of Zaíra as she is today should contain all of Zaíra's past. But the city does not tell her past, it contains it like the lines on a hand , written in street angles, window bars, stair railings, lightning rod antennas, flag poles, each segment crisscrossed by scratches, serrations, nicks, abrasions."
From the illustration of the hand, as a window to the city, the intention is to broaden the look to materiality, to everyday life and to the aspects that give the place its identity.
